What's new: Maine HS Football on niftiIQ

Oct 3, 2026: A new look across niftiIQ: calm greys, one dark panel with the win chance on every game page, and two clear doors on every page, Maine high school and Pro. Football's tabs are Schedule, Standings, What if, Playoffs and Teams, with the rest under More. Share images match the new look and carry a QR code to the game.

Sept 30, 2026 (evening): A real Schedule: one page per week, opening on this week, with kickoff times and each game's win chance. Every game now has its own page too: the win chance and projected margin from our power rating, both teams' records and Crabtree places, where each team can land after the weekend, both schedules, recent meetings and quick plain answers. After the game the page shows the final score, whether our frozen pick was right, and how the result moved both teams. Schedule is now the second tab, and the home page lists this week's games. New on every game page this week: each team's best possible place with a win and even with a loss, the chance of getting there, and exactly which other results have to happen.

Sept 30, 2026, Where could your team land after this weekend? Every game this week now shows the best and worst place each team can hold with a win and with a loss, and every game has a share image. New Maine art across niftiIQ.

Sept 30, 2026: The niftiIQ has one mascot now: a Maine lobster buoy, in the footer of every page.

Sept 29, 2026 (evening): A new look for the whole site, now for everyone: calm green and white, easier to read on a phone, with our two hosts in the footer.

Sept 29, 2026: A new look for the whole site: a clean sketchbook style, easier to read on a phone. Tap anywhere on a division card to open its full standings.

Sept 19, 2026: New Playoffs page and a "playoff picture" on every team page. See at a glance whether a team has clinched a tournament spot, been eliminated, or is still alive, and, while it's alive, the highest and lowest seed it can still finish. These are exact: "clinched" and "eliminated" hold for every possible combination of the games left, never a guess. Each team page also lists the games that matter most to its seed, showing where the team lands if it wins and if it loses (and even the rival games it isn't playing that still move it).

Sept 19, 2026: The What-if tool is now a full season simulator. It opens on the real standings as of today, lists the games still to play, and lets you drop in the projected winners (or pick your own, or flip any one) and watch the official Crabtree standings for all 11 divisions move instantly, with arrows showing who rises and falls and who crosses the playoff cut. Choose how far ahead to look: this week, next week too, or the rest of the season.

Sept 15, 2026: Picks page: from Week 3 the rating's pick for every game is written down before the week is played: on that week's Thursday morning, or for Week 3 the Tuesday evening the page went live, and never changed, then graded against "take the higher Crabtree team" and "take the home team". Team pages now say a team's chance of being the top-rated team in its division.

Sept 15, 2026: Three past seasons are in (2023, 2024, 2025: about 1,000 games), with a Past seasons page showing each year's standings under the classes in force that year and every result by week. The power rating now starts each team from where it finished the last two seasons, bends big margins instead of capping them, and shows an "influence" figure on team pages (how much each game moved the rating). New Accuracy page: tested week by week on 2023–2025, the rating picked 78% of 11-man games against 73% for "take the higher Crabtree team"; parameters were chosen on 2023–24 and confirmed on 2025. The "not backtested" label is gone because it is no longer true.

Sept 14, 2026: Power ratings now show 11-man and 8-man teams as two separate lists. They never play each other, so ranking them on one list was misleading.

Sept 14, 2026: New FAQ page with plain answers about Maine playoffs, the Crabtree Index, Heal points and 8-man football. The section name in the top bar is now a link back to Local.

Sept 14, 2026: Now part of niftiIQ's Local section, with the shared site header so you can jump between Sports and Local. The niftiIQ landing page shows a live card for this project.

Sept 14, 2026: First public version. Schedules and results for all 82 MPA programs in 11 divisions, official Crabtree standings recomputed from results and checked against the MPA's published numbers (all 37 team rows checked matched), a what-if tool that recalculates every division when one game flips, team pages with the Crabtree math shown step by step, a power rating with an uncertainty band (not backtested: it says so), and a weekly recap written from a published fact sheet.
